Finally, a Kids' Music Class that Really Rocks!! Music for Aardvarks is a refreshing alternative to the traditional music class for kids. The program was created in 1997 in Brooklyn, NY by rock composer/musician and father of 3, David Weinstone, and has been going great guns in NYC ever since. Music for Aardvarks is distinct from other children’s music programs in that all classes are based around Mr. Weinstone’s original songs, rhythms, and chants. In an exhilarating range of musical styles, Aardvark songs reflect and celebrate the lives of kids growing up today. The music is innovative, intelligent, and irresistibly appealing to both kids and their parents. Our informal, spirited classes incorporate sing-a-longs, puppet play, free-form dance breaks, and instrumental jam sessions. It’s an interactive musical experience that the whole family can genuinely get excited about!! Discover for yourself just how great the music is by sampling Aardvark favorites like Daddy’s Snoring and Dirt (click on CD’s) or check out Music for Aardvark’s music video “Grumpy” on Jack's Big Music Show, on Noggin. Who’s Bringing Aardvarks to Town? Joe Murphy, Director/Teacher, is a singer/songwriter and an experienced children’s music teacher. He has been teaching Music for Aardvarks classes in Brooklyn, New York for the last several years and is also a trained and registered Music Together teacher. Joe attended the Diller-Quaile School of Music where he studied the Dalcroze approach to music education. He is an old friend of David Weinstone, the creator of Music for Aardvarks, and trained with David before taking on his own Music for Aardvarks classes. Joe has also performed professionally as an actor in NYC for the past 15 years. He has performed off and on Broadway and numerous TV shows such as Law and Order, Sex and the City, Third Watch, and several soap operas. Joe’s wife, Virginia, is a native Memphian and after the birth of their son, Abel, they decided to leave NYC for Memphis to be closer to family. Joe is happy to be putting his roots down in Memphis and excited about making Aardvark music with Memphians young and old. Why Music for Aardvarks and Memphis Memphis is a music town.
